New idea

After my stop motion turned out not so great, i decided i would use another medium, at first i thought about using standard film, but then stumbled accross Shadow puppets. I thought this would be a good way for me to show my idea while still having a good effect. This is a video i found that gave me inspiration:

I finished my own stop motion video, it was very time consuming and i wasn't very pleased with the results so i decided to revisit this project but using a different method.

Stop frame ideas

Here are some ideas and story boards i jotted down before starting making my video. I would follow the story board when making my animation.

Animation inspiration

I will look at some stop frame animations people have already done to try and get some ideas for my own poject.

This is a stop motion someone did as a test for a poetry documentary, i thought it linked in well with what i was doing.

This is a stop motion animation by an artiist called 'PES' he works with stop motion for his projects so i looked into alot of his work also.

Animation

I decided on creating an animation for this project, the reason being it had to be 'moving image' and i believe an animation would be the best way for me to do this. Stop frame animation will be the specific thing i will be doing, taking lots of pictures and overlaying them to create moving image. Although this process can be time consuming i believe it will have the best outcome.

Ideas

I thought i would try to find some inspiration for my project. I started looking at things i would include this would be a rocket and a man. I was looking at the sort of style i would make my project in, i decided i would make it look more childish, to try and match the poem i chose.

I'm building a rocket.
As soon as I'm done
I'm taking my friends
on a trip to the sun.

But what to you mean
that the sun is too hot?
Oh well, I suppose
I'll just pick a new spot.

I'm building a rocket.

But what do you mean
that the moon has no air?
Well dang, then I guess
that we can't go up there.

I'm building a rocket.
It's going to fly.

way up high in the sky.

This rocket is harder
to build than I planned.

To heck with the rocket.
It's out in the shed.
I'm taking my friends
out for pizza instead.

I chose this poem as its the one i enjoyed reading the most. Also i thought i would be a good poem to base my work on.

Poem

First of all i had to find a poem i would base my project around. Not being very familiar with poems i had no idea which poem i would choose, so started research at random. In the end i decided i would choose a children's poem, as they appeal to me more.
